Women
Welcome to women's rugby at Lewes RFC
Ladies, women, birds, or the multitude of animal names frequently used: whatever you want to call us, (…we heard that!) there is one thing that we all have in common… we love rugby!
Join us
Some of us love it for the fitness and the adrenaline of the sport, some for the post-match pint and lasting friendships it creates! Some of us have been playing for ten years and still don’t know the rules, some started last month and are already top try-scorers. The beauty of women’s rugby is that regardless of your sporting background, level of talent, experience, age or size, there is a place for you in the team. All we ask is that you enjoy yourself!

Lewes RFC
Lewes has had an established and successful women’s rugby team for over ten years and prides itself on being an enjoyable and friendly place to play rugby.
What, when, where?
We are currently playing in the RFUW National Challenge South East South Division 2 which allows us to play both, challenging and exciting rugby but at a level that does not prevent the team from having a good social scene. Our weekly Thursday evening training sessions finish with a few pints in the club house, and we have also been known to venture into town for a more serious drink on the odd occasion. Games take place most Sundays, at home in Lewes or an hour or so away at our oppositions' grounds.
Training takes place on Thursday evenings from 19.30 to 21.00 at Lewes RFC.

Player pathways
Playing for Lewes will also give you the opportunity to develop your rugby beyond club level. The RFUW is really working hard to make the County experience better quality, and more competitive for Senior women's rugby players. Sussex RFU is also increasingly supportive of Women and Girls now more than ever. There are new highly qualified coaches involved, and the matches form part of the London & South East Divisional Championship, so there is something to play for. It is also of course the start of the Player Pathway so for those players who have come through the U18s, and others who want to progress, playing for the County is really important. To find out more, why not go to an open training session?
