Welcome to mini rugby at Lewes RFC

Lewes RFC run a very active Junior section incorporating Youth and Mini rugby. We have seen it grow into a vibrant and thriving community. All levels of ability are welcome and the aim is to provide players and parents with a positive experience of rugby.

Age groups

Age groups are based on a player’s age as of 1st September. The minis are made up of groups of boys and girls in under 7 and under 12 teams. They play together in many competitive fixtures and festivals throughout the year. We do welcome children in an under 6 group and activities for them are purely fun based.

Girls under the age of 12 can join the mini section. Girls over the age of 12 can not longer play alongside boys, but Lewes

fully supports the South Sussex Barbarians who provide rugby for girls over 12 years.

Training and matches

Sunday mornings between 10.30am and 12, from September to April at Lewes RFC

Coaching

All sides have access to plenty of RFU qualified coaches who are able to effectively deliver structured sessions and follow the RFU Continuous Performance Development pathway to ensure their coaching skills stay current.

Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults

All coaches have undergone sessions on Safegurading and Equity in Coaching and the club invests time and resources to ensure there are First Aiders and qualified referees. Find out more >>
