New Year's day dip

On New Year's day, the South Sussex Barbarians, the local girls rugby squad, went into the sea off Shoreham Beach to raise money for equipment. Though low numbers took part due to holidays and illness, each of the three age groups (U12s, U15s and U18s) were represented.
The girls who braved the icy waters were:
U12s - Sammy Clegg
U15s - Lauren Burstow, Ellie Ambridge, Heather Clegg, Harriet Dunn, Faye Kirby and Caitlin Ward
U18s - Molly Byrne, Charlotte Fenn and Amy Grantham
They were 'eagerly' joined by coaches; Darren Burstow and Mike Clegg and manager Claire Byrne. Afterwards everyone defrosted with the help of homemade soup and hot chocolate.
The Barbarians would like to thank friends, family and passers-by who supported and encouraged them from dry land.
