Welcome to Lewes Women's Rugby Club!
Welcome
Ladies, women, birds, or the multitude of animal names frequently used: whatever you want to call us, (…we heard that!) there is one thing that we all have in common… we love rugby!
Join us
Some of us love it for the fitness and the adrenaline of the sport, some for the post-match pint and lasting friendships it creates! Some of us have been playing for ten years and still don’t know the rules, some started last month and are already top try-scorers. The beauty of women’s rugby is that regardless of your sporting background, level of talent, experience, age or size, there is a place for you in the team. All we ask is that you enjoy yourself!
Lewes has had an established and successful women’s rugby team for over ten years and prides itself on being an enjoyable and friendly place to play rugby. The club is committed to being inclusive and embraces the women’s team 100%. This cannot be said of many rugby clubs.
What, when, where?
We are currently playing in the RFUW National Challenge South West Division 2 which allows us to play both, challenging and exciting rugby but at a level that does not prevent the team from having a good social scene (- but never on a Saturday night Coach, honest!) Our weekly Thursday evening training sessions start with a strenuous warm up and finish with a few pints in the club house, and we have also been known to venture into town for a more serious drink on the odd occasion. Games take place most Sundays, at home in Lewes or an hour or so away at our opposition’s ground.
Training takes place on Thursday evenings from 19.30 to 21.00 at Lewes RFC.
